"July was a record-breaking month for large-size TFT-LCD panels in several segments, including total shipments, shipment area, notebook PC, LCD TV and netbook panel shipments.
This indicates strong recovery in end-market demand and increased utilization at panel makers," said David Hsieh, vice president of DisplaySearch.
Hsieh added, "Panel prices continued to rise in July, and revenues will increase again in August as shipments continue to grow."
The LCD Market
Industry analysts note that the top five LCD makers have supplied 90% of the LCD panels in 2009. They are all iML customers.
Global LCD TV sales volume is predicted to rise 21 percent this year—spurred by developing markets and the rapid transition to digital TVs in established economies. Recent trends in LCD panel applications and iML’s ability to respond to them drives our success. These trends include higher chip operating voltages, expanding use of nonvolatile memories, and needs of greater integration.
